Our mission is to prevent suicide, by providing support and activities to all Disabled, Combat and Law Enforcement Veterans, silently suffering with PTSD and TBI.
Providers of Freedom was founded in 2012 by three OIF and OEF Veterans. Our surviving founder, Randolph Wilkerson, is a medically retired Combat Veteran, who has dedicated his life to helping his fellow Veterans. After two deployments, and 14 years in the military, he has first hand experience of what occurs when a soldier comes home wounded.
The strain put on the Veterans and their family, is too much to handle alone, in most cases - this is where Providers of Freedom comes in. For seven years, we have served local Veterans in several ways, such as; taking Veterans and their family members out on fishing trips, diving trips and weekend excursions. We have also provided emergency financial assistance, job seeking assistance and housing assistance to local Veterans in need.
We operate a business model that maximizes funds going directly to Veterans and Veterans Services. Most non-profit organizations spend upwards of 80% on operating costs. We feel that isn’t acceptable because lives and families depend on it. With alarming suicide rates, and with a 100% chance of divorce, we can all share the load.
Our amazing team of regulars and part-time volunteers are committed to helping others. We take our convictions and turn them into action. We are Veterans helping Veterans and it is our mission to provide support and activities to combat Veterans and their families.
Since 2012, we have served our community, taking out 167 Veterans and their family members on weekend excursions on our 33' boat and assisted 39 Veteran families with emergency financial assistance discreetly and respectfully. We take pride of not exploiting these families understanding we all need help sometimes.
Providers of Freedom started with a group of Veterans that served in Iraq. We were losing many of our fellow soldiers from suicide, and decided to start an organization to help bring awareness to it, and to help prevent it from happening. Our members and volunteers provide the momentum that helps us make change. Using data driven models, we provide solutions that make a long-lasting difference.
